Frequently asked questions about claims

Here you can find frequently asked questions we receive about claims. More questions and answers can be found via the link further down the page.

Report a claim

If you have a claim concerning damaged property or personal injury, that qualifies for processing by Swedish Motor Insurers (TFF), you can report it to us. The easiest way to do this is to use our digital claim notification.

Parking claim

Most parking claims are processed by insurance companies, but some are processed by Swedish Motor Insurers (TFF). Here we provide information on where to report your claim. But we start by explaining what is counted as a parking claim.

Which claims are processed by TFF?

We process property damage and personal injury claims caused by unknown or uninsured vehicles required to have motor third party liability insurance.

Don’t wait too long to report a claim

If you have suffered loss or injury you should report the claim as soon as possible; this makes processing easier. The longer time that passes, the more difficult it may be for you to prove that there is a connection between the accident and the loss or injury in question.

Claim with foreign vehicle involved

This is what applies when a foreign vehicle is involved in a traffic accident in Sweden or abroad.

Excess

In some cases we deduct an excess from the compensation we pay out. This applies to property damage caused by unknown vehicles required to have motor third party liability (MTPL) insurance, such as passenger cars, lorries or mopeds.

Reduced compensation

We may reduce your compensation for a claim if the accident occurred because you were negligent or consciously contributed to the injury.

Reindeer killed in traffic

We at Swedish Motor Insurers (TFF) keep a record of all claims reported concerning reindeer killed in traffic. We also handle some of these claims, but far from all of them.

If you are not satisfied

In the first instance you should contact your claims handler at TFF. It is important that we reply to your questions, hear your comments and clear up any misunderstandings.
