Are you going to drive abroad this summer?
Travelling abroad with a car or other vehicle requires planning and preparation - whether driving your own car or renting a car at your destination.
We have collected tips and advice to help you travel safely and smoothly.
- Review your insurance cover. Check which insurance policies you have and what they include.
- Do your homework before renting a car abroad. The rules may differ from from what we are used to in Sweden and insurance cover is often worse.
- Use a checklist. Many insurance companies have checklists on their websites that help you with what you should bear in mind and prepare for before you travel.
- Do you need a green card? It depends on which countries you are travelling to or through. The Green Card system covers almost all European countries and some countries that border Europe. The system enables you to drive freely across international borders with your Swedish motor third party liability insurance. However, in order to enter some countries you must have a green card that certifies that your vehicle is insured.
