Renting a vehicle abroad

Do you intend to rent a car, motorcycle or other motor vehicle outside Sweden? Remember that often other rules apply than those we are used to in Sweden, and that the insurance cover is often less comprehensive.

Read through the rental agreement and insurance terms and conditions carefully so that you know how the vehicle is insured and what is included in the policy. In many countries the vehicle’s motor third party liability (MTPL) insurance does not cover injuries or damage that you as the driver may suffer. The passenger cover may also be less comprehensive than in Sweden. If necessary you should supplement your insurance cover for both personal injury and material damage.

Find out as well what is included in the insurance you already have and what cover you need to add. You will then avoid insurance overlap and unnecessary costs.
