Outside Sweden

Here you can find information about what you need to consider when you are travelling with a vehicle or renting a vehicle outside Sweden. You will also find information about frontier insurance here.

Green Card - travel abroad with a vehicle

A Green Card is an international insurance card that certifies that your vehicle has valid motor third party liability (MTPL) insurance. The Green Card system allows you to travel freely across borders in Europe, but some countries require you to present a Green Card upon entry.

Frontier insurance

If you bring a vehicle into Sweden for a limited time, and the vehicle is registered in a country outside the Green Card system, you must take out a frontier insurance policy. This also applies if you need to have a Green Card to bring the vehicle into Sweden but do not have one.

Renting a vehicle abroad

Do you intend to rent a car, motorcycle or other motor vehicle outside Sweden? Remember that often other rules apply than those we are used to in Sweden, and that the insurance cover is often less comprehensive.
