Which claims are processed by TFF?
The accident must have occurred in traffic - that is in connection with current, intended or recent use of the vehicle in traffic.
We also process certain claims where foreign vehicles are involved.

Most parking claims are processed by the insurance companies, not by us.

Damage to property
A property damage (or material damage) claim is a claim concerning a physical object that is not a human being - such as a house, a car, an animal or a bicycle.
We process property damage claims caused by unknown or uninsured vehicles required to have motor third party liability insurance.
Examples:
- A fence is knocked down by an unknown vehicle.
- A bicycle is run into by an uninsured vehicle.
Personal injury
A personal injury is a physical or mental injury caused by a person’s action.
We process personal injury claims arising in traffic when a person is injured when in or on an uninsured or unknown vehicle required to have motor third party liability insurance or when the accident was caused by such a vehicle.
Examples:
- A person is injured in a car accident when travelling in an uninsured vehicle.
- A pedestrian is knocked down by an unknown vehicle when crossing the road.
- A cyclist is run into by an uninsured vehicle.
- A person is injured while driving an uninsured cross motorbike.

If you are unsure whether or not your claim is to be handled by us - use our digital claim notification. It starts with some control questions that help you decide if you can report the claim to us. If it is a claim we process you can start your report immediately. If the claim is not to be reported to us you will receive information as to what you can do instead.

About our processing
If you are knocked down or have had property destroyed by an uninsured or unknown motor vehicle that is required to have motor third party liability insurance there is no insurance company to compensate you for your injury or loss. That is when TFF helps.
We process and settle claims in accordance with the provisions of the Motor Traffic Damage Act. The compensation we pay is financed in part by the charge we levy on those who own uninsured vehicles.
