Representatives and powers of attorney
A power of attorney is a certificate giving a person or company the right to act or make decisions for another person.
Definitions of some words
Grantor: The person who gives power of attorney to someone else.
Attorney: The person who is given the power of attorney. This may be a person or a company that via the power of attorney has been given the right to perform certain actions on behalf of the grantor. These may be for example signing agreements, receiving documents or making applications.
Do you need to complete a power of attorney?
If you need a representative, or if you are a representative, you must complete a power of attorney.
Our activities are subject to confidentiality under Section 11 of the Debt Recovery Act. We can receive information but we never divulge information to anyone who does not have power of attorney.
With a power of attorney we can provide information covered by the power of attorney. A power of attorney could for example only apply to a certain case or be valid for a specific period of time.
Follow the steps below to send in a power of attorney
The power of attorney must be signed by the grantor.
This is what you do:
- Download power of attorney for representative
- Print the power of attorney.
- Fill it in and sign with the grantor’s signature.
- Send the power of attorney to us. You can do this by post or by scanning or photographing the power of attorney and attaching it to a message in My pages.
