We are responsible for ensuring our correct processing of personal data in cases concerning claims. The processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation and for establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims. The data is used for loss adjustment, recourse processing, accounting, statistics and legal procedures, as well as troubleshooting and management of our IT systems.
What data do we register and why?
The data that we process about you consist of name and personal identity number, contact details and vehicle registration number.
We can obtain your personal data from parties other than yourself. These may be insurance companies, government agencies or people involved in the traffic accident.
If you contact us by telephone we note down what is said. Letters or email are scanned and added to your case file in our IT system.
Sensitive data may be processed
We may process sensitive data, for example concerning your health and your financial circumstances if you or your representative have submitted such data to us or if we, through your power of attorney, have requested data from a third party.
To enable us to assess the right to compensation in personal injury cases sensitive data may be provided to medical advisors and translation companies. In some cases data may be provided to rehabilitation companies.
Who can see your personal data?
The case officers can see your personal data. In some cases our IT staff can see the data when troubleshooting or developing the system.
We may provide data to insurance companies we are in communication with if they are involved in a claim. Government agencies, medical advisors and translation companies may also receive data from us. We also provide data to postal and printing companies so that you can receive our letters.
As a principal rule, we and those to whom we provide data only process your personal data within the EU/EEA. In some cases data may be provided to a third country within the framework of the international Green Card system.
How long do we save your data?
We do not save personal data in cases of claims for longer than necessary, but the time may vary depending on the type of claim. The basic principle is what is allowed under applicable law and practice.
How to safeguard your rights
You have the right to be informed of the personal data we process about you. If you consider that any personal data we process is inaccurate, under certain conditions you may have the right to request rectification, erasure or restriction of processing of your data.
